I am about to be a bridesmaid for the ninth time. The dress should be arriving any day. I thought it would fun to take a little trip down memory lane & look at my collection of bridemaid pictures.
My first time in a bridal party was when I was a flower girl in my pre-school teacher’s vow renewal. This is the pre-school I mentioned several times in my post of
family pictures. The ceremony took place on the same stage where we held our school plays, except this time no one was paying attention to me. I had on a pretty white dress and a basket of flowers, but they didn’t give me any lines and I didn’t get to talk into the microphone. I hated the lack of attention so I (as my mom describes it) “wallered on the floor.” I’m not sure if wallered is a real word, but my mom often uses it to describe something I did when I was a kid.
Luckily, I have learned to share the spotlight. Actually, I really prefer to be the bridesmaid and not the bride, so that the attention is not on me. I have not wallered in a single wedding since that one. When I was planning my beach wedding in Mexico, my mom kept teasing that she was going to fly my pre-school teacher out there to waller in the sand next to my ceremony.
My first time as a bridesmaid was 2001, also known as the year of weddings. From June-June I was in 4 weddings. I was in my step-sister’s, cousin’s, a friend’s, & a co-worker’s wedding.

There was a lull in weddings for me until 2005 when my college friends started to get married. I moved to North Carolina in 2004, so these weddings were a great time to take a trip back to Texas and see everyone.
The 2005-2007 weddings of my college friends were a lot of fun. We took turns alternating between being bridesmaids and brides. One of the girls in this mix eloped to St. Lucia, so I don’t have a picture from that wedding. For the January 2008 wedding, we wore the dress from the November 2005 wedding. It was awesome not having to buy another dress, although it had become snugger over those two years. Must have shrunk hanging in the closet.
I started the tradition of taking a bottle of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson body glitter to each wedding. It’s a bottle I had in college that we’d often all put on before going out. It’s a classy body glitter that just gives a little shimmer. Would you expect any less from M-K & Ashley? The bottle made it to three weddings. I still have it, but it was busted in the flight back from the third wedding. Maybe I need to transfer the contents to another container.

I was married last summer in Riviera Maya, Mexico. We decided to not have a bridal party. Instead I superimposed friend’s heads onto funny pictures and called them my honorary bridesmaids.

A couple of my friends (from wedding #4 & #6), brought their wedding dresses to Mexico so we could pretend to be America’s Next Top Model for the day. My husband doesn’t like having his picture taken, so we thought a girl’s only trash the dress would be fun. He had already spent hours taking pictures with me, so it was best to let him take the day off. We had flown a photographer to Mexico, so we had a weekend of photography.
Here are some pictures from the triple bride shoot (Photography by Kristie).

Fierce!

I try to rewear my bridesmaid dresses if possible. When my now husband and I first started dating, he asked me to his Corps of Cadets formal. We were doing sit-ups in the gym at Texas A&M when he asked. How romantic. The next time he was over at my place, I opened the closet of bridesmaid dresses to see which one he liked best. He picked the silver one, because it reminded him of the color of his first car.

I wore one of the dresses to a party last Fall. The theme was to dress like a robot. I’m supposed to be a robot maid (that’s me in the pink dress).

On New Year’s Eve, I wore the dress from my brother’s wedding. I love that dress and will definitely wear it again. Actually, it’s the nicest dress I’ve owned.

I’m waiting on my package to arrive of my most recent bridesmaid dress. The bride picked the brand and color, but we got to pick the style. The wedding is outdoors on a ranch in the small town where I grew up. I am really looking forward to this wedding.
